Royal Parks Half Marathon. London. Matthew Chattle Photography.

© Matthew Chattle Photojournalism

An alien Smurf invaded the Royal Parks Half Marathon today. It was seen joinging the runners at the start gate and seemed to join the race. Nell McAndrew and Ben Fogle started the race as London was bathed in lovely Autumn sunshine.
I hope the Smurf did well before they caught it and took it away for examination.

Merchant Navy Day London 2012. Matthew Chattle Photography

I took some photographs at the Merchant Navy Day Parade in Trinity Square Gardens. A touching event to commemorate the loss of life on the many merchant and fishing boats lost during WW1 and WW2 and to the present day.

The Piccadilly Circus Circus event closed the roads as the area around Piccadilly Circus was transformed into a wonderful circus. Trapeze artists, jugglers, high wire artists and the lovely Hula Hoop girl above entertained the packed crowds all day.

Julian Assange at the pulpit, sorry balcony talking to his followers [the press that is and his supporters] at the Ecuador Embassy in Knightsbridge. The press did outnumber his supporters, followed a close second by the police.

Cutting Police by 20% is criminal. Police protest against budget cuts and march in London. Photography Matthew Chattle.

Millbank was awash with off duty police officers who just happened to all bump into each other and decided to take a walk through central London whilst wearing matching caps and carrying banners and t-shirts they happened to have prepared earlier. An amazing sight it was too. Very good natured and not a hint of trouble......
They were protesting about the proposed 20% budget cuts that are leading to confrontation with the government. They were not on strike as they're not allowed to do so. Cutting police by 20% is criminal

This fabulous picture along with many others is for sale on Alamy Live News at the moment and then as stock in a couple of days.

Occupy London 12th May 2012. Matthew Chattle Photojournalism. Alamy Live News

Saturday 12th May saw Occupy London converge on St Paul's. I caught up with them on Fetter Lane as police lines and Occupy protesters reached a critical point. Drums and whistles were going like crazy and tension and tempers were flaring. A lot of pushing and shoving as police attempted to hold back the crowd from going wherever they were eventually  going. The mood changed from good natured joshing and pushing to a split second later when tempers reached a pitch. Then batons were drawn and it certainly threatened to turn nasty. All pictures are on Alamy as stock now, I always upload to Alamy Live News and I cover as many events and news events in London as I can.

Alamy Live News. Matthew Chattle Photography. iPad 3 Queue Regent Street London. Daily Mail

Alamy Live News
I had a couple of nice shots of the dedicated iPad 3 queue a week before Apple launched the product. Ali and Zohaib were queuing to buy the iPad 3, camping outside the Apple store. Very dedicated and pleasant young men.
The Mail Online ran two of my pictures and Alamy Live News sold them for me

New Royal London Hospital opens 1st March 2012

The New Royal London Hospital opened today, so I went down to Whitechapel and took a few photographs. I was hoping for whistles and bells and good old Boris Johnson moving his floppy fringe around. Nothing doing unfortunately, a pleasant morning and lots of hospital staff going to work. The old hospital looks derelict already. The shots are on Alamy Live News now and on the normal Alamy stock by Saturday.

Alamy Live News. Matthew Chattle Alamy

It's been a busy weekend for me on Alamy Live News. Sun on Sunday launch led to pictures of adverts the day before the launch, I got the first issues on sale at midnight on Saturday. The Faberge Big Egg Hunt eggs are all over central London at the moment, got a nice shot of an inquisitive lady and a giant egg. Welfare Reform Bill protesters outside Angel Tube was a bit disappointing-about five Socialist Workers wasn't exactly a mass protest. Finished off with the Maslenitsa Russian Festival in Trafalgar Square today. Good days work, seven different news items in two days.
