Santacon London 2012. Matthew Chattle News Photography London

© Matthew Chattle News Photography London

Santacon hit London yesterday and many Santas were covering the streets of Leicester Square with Red and White and many a 'Ho, Ho, Ho'. A few elves and the occasional tree caused some outrage amongst the Santas but everything went off peacefully. Campaign Against Climate Change. Fracking Protest London. Matthew Chattle News Photography London.

© Matthew Chattle News Photography

An anti Fracking march took place in London yesterday and the protest ended up outside Parliament where they assembled a mock rig. Lots of people attended, young and old. The tourists outside Downing Street looked bewildered but amused by it all. No more 'Fracking' jokes though please, every hack thought it was 'fracking' cold etc, etc, etc.

I visited the Kensington Dollshouse Festival at Kensington Town Hall on Saturday, very interesting it was too. Couldn't help being fascinated by these naked dolls waiting to be bought and dressed.

EDL protest outside Parliament after being banned at Walthamstow. Free Tommy Robinson [Stephen Lennon]. Matthew Chattle News Photography, London.

The EDL [English Defence League] staged a very small static protest opposite Parliament on the 27th October 2012, after they were banned from marching through Walthamstow. Totally outnumbered by the press and even more by the police, they managed to make some noise both before and after their visits to the pub. Drinking for England they were, and not a full set of teeth amongst them.

TUC anti-austerity march London October 2012. Matthew Chattle News Photography London

© Matthew Chattle Photojournalism

The TUC organised march through central London took place on Saturday 20th of October. Over 100,000 people attended. It was big and apart from the trouble on Oxford Street [which I missed, as I went over to Russell Square to look at the Bloomsbury Festival], there was little trouble.
As some commentators have been saying these events are impressive but are they changing anything? People make their point but to whom? It was very lively and at the same time very calm, very English in fact.

Trafalgar Day 2012, Trafalgar Square London. Matthew Chattle News Photography London

© Matthew Chattle Photojournalism

It is Trafalgar Day and the Sea Cadets were on parade in Trafalgar Square to honour Lord Nelson and his victory at the battle of Trafalgar, I wonder how many young Londoners even know who the statue is at the top of that column?
